About SEAIRSCAN

Welcome to Southeastern Air Scan!

I am Michael Martin, owner of this site.  I have been an aviation geek since my first helicopter ride back in 1973!  My love of flying has taken me to being a flight medic and a traffic reporter.

At this site, I delve into all known aviation frequencies that I can find.  I have several scanners in my wood shop that are filled with aviation frequencies (both civilian and military).

I've had people ask if I am a pilot.  I am not.  During the 96 Summer Olympics, Metro Traffic Control (Atlanta) was tasked by the Federal Government to provide 6 aircraft up from 0600-2400 for the 3 weeks of the Olympics in order to have continious traffic reports.  I asked my pilot if I could try flying and she handed over the control to me!  After 1 week, she sat in the co-pilot seat and let me do the flying.  Cessna C172's and Piper PA-32's.  I ended up with 150+ hours as well as 64 (successful) take off's and landings.  All I had to do is take ground school, but, I ended up getting married and bought a house!  Never got back to it.

Any way - This site is for everyone who loves to listen to aviation traffic.  My favorite 2 spots to take aviation photographs is at KPDK and KATL (though KATL is getting tough with the parking deck revitalization!
